These blogs aren’t just great at sussing out the hottest new tracks, they’re also filled with amazing writers who can capture the essence of a track and the artists who write them, with just the stroke of a few keys. While we’ve included a couple streaming-centric blogs as well, what we’re really highlighting here are the blogs that tell artist’s stories — and that’s why they’ve made our list. Check it out!

For some unestablished musicians, the thought of going from making music in a bedroom or garage to playing on stage in front of strangers seems more like a Grand Canyon’s wide leap than a seamless transition. Even before the thought of potential nervousness over performing live for the first time sets in, there are things to consider like how to build your set, where to play, and who to get in touch with about booking. This can indeed be a tricky transition, but luckily, it’s one you’ll only have to make once.
Taking more than a little inspiration from the 1970s bestseller Zen & The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, this might be the best all-around volume written on audio engineering we’ve seen yet. He moves easily from the big picture to the small details (and then back again) meaning that this book is just as useful for a relatively experienced reader as it is for a beginner. It’s really got something for everyone.

The band, however, wrote the song for Belushi himself to sing, which he recorded reluctantly. The movie’s producers refused to use it, but Belushi still wanted to do right by Fear, so he booked them on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest for the Halloween Special in 1981.
The attack setting you use for mix buss compression is just as important as using a compressor on any other individual track. With a faster attack, the compressor will clamp down sooner on the transients that tend to be a little louder than the rest of the audio coming through. A slower attack will wait milliseconds before it clamps down on the audio and starts compressing.
