User guide / Manual joystick configuration
Rogue Class Linux has good joystick support. Many of the games were originally ported to the GP2X, which has labeled buttons. RCL has the concept of "logical buttons". For example, your joystick may not have an X Button, but RCL will let you configure any button as the X Button. RCL will automatically configure many USB joysticks when you plug them in. Otherwise, you may need to manually configure the joystick.
Double-click Joystick setup
Pick configure joystick.
Select a joystick
RCL has a separate button map per player. This allows you to use
different models of joysticks at the same time. If in doubt, pick Player one.
Pick method to configure the joystick. You will see a list of presets if your joystick is found in the model database. This saves you the trouble of mapping every control. If you pick a preset, then the system will configure the joystick and return you to the joystick menu. If you pick the manual setup option, then the system will show you a list of controls to map.
If you are using the manual setup option, then you will see a list of controls that can be mapped. If a control is set to -1, then it is not mapped. It is OK to leave some controls unmapped.
Double-click on a control to remap it. In this example, I will remap
the X button.
- If you wish to unmap the X button, then click Clear.
- If you wish to map the X button, then push the button that should be mapped to the X button. It will show the new button number on the screen.
- Click OK to save the new mapping, or click Cancel to revert to the old mapping.
- When finished mapping buttons, click Back
